Dear Club Members

It is unbelievable how fast the year has gone.  It felt like just the other day that we prepared ourselves for Two Oceans and Comrades, and now it is once again time to start the long training runs.  Two Oceans is only 17 weeks away and Christmas and the holidays around the corner.

The league competitions for 2017 is almost concluded, with only the Aspen marathon and the Drommedaris 10km leagues remaining for the year.  Nedbank RC is top of the leaderboard for all three league events.  Thank you very much for everyone that has supported the club in these competitions during the year.  The leaderboard for some of the categories are extremely close with in some instances only 1 race seperates first and second position.  I will keep you in suspense for now…  but don’t miss one event if you think you are in contention for a prize.

Licencing and registration - It is time again to renew your licence for 2018.  Although you are allowed to run in the 2017 number till the end of January, we want to be prepared should the numbers arrive early in the year.  New members are reminded to register on www.asa.saclubs.co.za and www.nedbankrunningclub.co.zaThe fees for 2018 will be R250.00 for athletes between the ages of 20 and 59.  This is R110 for licence and R140 for club fee.  Those younger or older receives a discount and will pay R160.00 for the year, which is R60 for licence and R100 for club fee.

Athletes that have participated in more than 13 but less than 20 league events receives 50% reduction on their club fee.  Those that ran more than 21 league events receives 80% reduction in their club fee. The full list of amounts due will be available at Nedbank Gazebo at the next three races, or alternatively email irene@pe.co.za or whatsap of sms to 0832991775 to find out what your amount due is.

All athletes MUST fill in the licencing form.  The EPA office will not release your licence to the club unless this is done.

All athletes will be required to pay their licencing fee.  We request that you pay your licence fee via EFT and bring the proof of payment with you when you return your form.  We do not want to handle cash at the races or at the time trials, so please we encourage you to help us to limit the cash transactions.

Clothing - We have limited stock, the next batch will arrive end of January.  Each club member will shortly receive a patch that must be ironed onto your vest.  This is to accommodate the new rules made by ASA regarding corporate clubs.

Cassies 15km  - The annual Cassies 15km road race organized by Nedbank will take place on the 27th of January 2018.  At the committee meeting held this week, a request was made that we do not allow ANY club member to participate on the day, with the exeption of any runner that finished in the top 25 men and ladies overall, or top 3 in your age category at the 2017 Cassies, or that does so at the Bluewater Bay 15km.  It is not fair on the remaining of the club that forfeits their run to marshall on the day and club members that are not in contention for prizes runs past.  Most clubs in the province has the same rule.  We will strictly enforce it this year and you will NOT be allowed to run on the day.  You will have the opportunity to run the helpers run on Saturday 23 December at 06h00, or the 2nd helpers run on Sunday 21 January starting at 05h30.  We will have hotdogs for everyone after the run on the 23rd.  Please feel free to wear a festive hat….

Prize Giving - The annual prize giving will be held immediately after the Cassies 15km.  We envisage that we will be finished cleaning the route and packing up by about 10h00, after which we will go into the hall for the prize giving.  A meal will be served to eveyone attending the prize giving.  Please keep the morning free to join us in congratulating the achievers for the year.  The committee also decided that the competition for 2018 will be from January to October, with our annual prize giving to be held in November 2018.  Thereafter, it will be November to October. The athletes of the months May to December will be announced at the prize giving.

Just a reminder that the club run is on a Tuesday from the Kabega Park Primary school, starting at 17h30.  The 2018 fixture list is printed at the back for your information.

Good luck to everyone that is running the Aspen Marathon, and we look forward to seeing you at the club Gazebo afterwards…  Take pics and send to me for the website.
