It may be the festive season but that isn’t stopping Nedbank Running Club athletes from dominating races around the Country.
In Pretoria, the Mandela Remembrance run took part with a big field fulling the Jacaranda clad streets. Nedbank Running Club Green Dream team ladies were there in full force with athletes taking the first 3 positions in the half marathon and 1st and 2nd with Rutendo Nyahora and Deanne Horn in the 10km. Charne Bosman ran her fastest half marathon time in the last 5 years with her 3rd place overall and 1st vet with a fast 1:19:13.
In Cape Town, Annie Bothma who is setting the running scene alight continued her amazing form taking victory in the Avbob 15km in a very fast 52:38. Not only was it a new pb by over 2 mins, but this was the fastest time by a South African for 2018. “I’m really happy with the way my run went, going very consistent throughout,” an elated Bothma said after the race. “It also did surprise me a bit because right now in my training block I am doing a lot of mileage and not much speed so my strength is really good right now but I was not so sure about the speed.”
The next big focus for some of the Nedbank Running Club Green Dream Team runners will be in the Umtata Heroes Marathon this Sunday. With R50 000 up for grabs, we are set to see some great racing.
