Namakoe Nkhasi Wins Joburg 10k CityRun

Nedbank Running Club athlete Namakoe Nkhasi stunned a full-strength field on Saturday to win the Joburg 10k CityRun

Nkhasi, who won the 10km race at the Cape Town Marathon last week, added another title after breaking away from Kenyan opponent Edwin Koech in the latter stages of the 10km race to complete the event in 29:48.

Koech finished second in 30:07 and early leader Sibusiso Nzima of the Nedbank Running Club, who did much of the front running in the early stages, was the first SA athlete home in third finish in a time of 30:10.

In the women’s race, Lebogang Phalula delivered a superb performance to secure victory in 35:33 with Nedbank Running Club athlete Rutendo Nyahora taking second position in 35:59 and Glenrose Xaba was third, a further eight seconds off the pace.
