Dream Team continues to impress.
The Nedbank Running Club Green Dream Team extended their domination of National road running events to the cross country circuit.
Kgosi Tsosane from the Nedbank Running Club in Soweto ran the race of his life, winning the South African Cross Country trials (over 12km) in a time of 37.57, followed in a sprint finish by Steven Makoka.
Nedbank’s Lungisa Mdedelwa completed the podium places with a third placed finish in 38.02 with ex-Nedbank runner Boy Soke from the Free State in fourth.
The Nedbank Running club took five out of the top seven positions with Tshamano Setone and Sibusiso Nzima finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
In the woman’s South African Cross Country trial which was run over 8km, Nedbank Running Club’s Annerien Van Schalkwyk was runner up as she finished only one second behind the eventual winner Leboga Phalula and earned herself a silver medal with a time of 30.00
Nedbank Team mates René Kalmer, Mpho Mabuza and Christine Kalmer finished sixth, seventh & eighth respectively in these muddy and challenging trials.
René Kalmer (Nedbank CGA) is clearly showing signs of a return to form, as she won the Bobbies 25km ladies race in 1h35.15 the following day.
Akasia 21km and 42km results.
At the Akasia event in Pretoria on Saturday, William Chinyanga was second in the half marathon while Wesley Ruto achieved the same position in 42.2km event in a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes. Ruto used this race as a training run to qualify for the Two Oceans marathon in April this year, his main focus.
