ASA Marathon Championships – Sunday the 16th of February 2025 in Cape Town

Michelle Spies represented AVT at these championships and the athletes had to compete the whole race with the extraordinarily strong winds in their faces. It was really a difficult race with the conditions but Michelle as we know her, did not allow these circumstances to affect her race. AVT send a team of 4 female and 1 Male athlete and Michelle was the 1st of the ladies to finish the race.

She finished 6th in her category 35-39 but 4th in the championship in the age group. She was the 22nd Female athlete overall and finished 238th overall in the marathon. There was a total of 3,117 finishers of which 1,036 were Females. Job well done Michelle!!

The Nedbank gazebo was erected at the event for the purpose of treating all Nedbank athletes in the country with something to eat and to drink. Thank you Beaulah for taking the initiative and thank you Sampie and Tsietsi for your help after your races.

A total of 23 Nedbank athletes made use of this (11 athletes from AVT, 10 athletes from CGA and 2 athletes from AGN). From the feedback received everyone enjoyed the time at the gazebo. We will see all Nedbank athletes again at the Sasol marathon on the 29th of March 2025.
