A big welcome to 2025 and wishing you all a great year with excellent results. We kick started the year with our Awards Ceremony for 2024 performances, held at Kollegepark on the 16^th of January ’25. Thank you to all who attend and who witnessed the acknowledgement of performances for 2024. We hope that it will inspire all of us to greater things in 2025.

We want to welcome members who have already registered at the club for 2025, especially new members who have joined us for 2025. May you all have a wonderful experience with Nedbank Running Club in 2025.

We want to once again say thank you to Nedbank and all our sponsors for continuous support which allow athletes to compete at the highest level. Without these support it would be difficult to achieve the same and even better results than what we had achieved in 2024. We as Nedbank Running Club Vanderbijlpark promise to keep on making you proud where we compete in our beloved green.

Gerda Pretorius handle all club related enquiries as well as all running gear. The contact number for Gerda is 072 209 9906. She will be available every Tuesday at the clubhouse from 17:00.

We as management hope that you enjoy our newsletter and if you want to send information to be published please feel free to send it to my email address namely johanstr2@gmail.com. I really looking forward to hearing from you. Maybe we can ask our coaches to send some articles about training, rest, nutrition etc. I am sure it will be highly appreciated by all of us.

Registration can be done in the following manner:

Members can register at the clubhouse on Tuesdays from 17:00. Members can also register for 2025 using the following method:

ASA as well as the Nedbank Running Club’s registration forms must be completed.

The 2025 fees are available on the Nedbank Running Club registration form.
Suggestion from my side is to download the requested forms and complete it before you go to the Club to register. That will save you valuable time.
We are going to receive the 2025 ASA licenses during the week and it will be available for collection from Tuesday the 28^th of January ’25 at the clubhouse from 17:00. Please note that your 2024 license is only valid till the 31^st of January ’25.

We do have a card machine available for registration at the clubhouse. With this we want to urge our athletes to register as soon as possible to make the most of your ASA license number for the whole of 2025.

Awards function for 2024 achievements

We had a highly successful ceremony which was held on Thursday the 16^th of January 2025 at Kollege Park. Our athletes and members were awarded for all achievements and it is with pride that I want to share these achievements with you. We do have a lot of talent in our club and each member can be proud to be associated with such an excellent club. Nedbank Running Club Vanderbijlpark was once again the biggest club in the Vaal Triangle and we produce athletes who participated at the Olympic Games and at the World Junior Championships. Members of our club were managers and coaches of National teams in 2024. We had a growth in the number of our Junior athlete’s and we had more Junior athletes than open school clubs in the Vaal Triangle. I think the message is clear to all that if you join Nedbank Running Club Vanderbijlpark, you definitely join the winning club in the Vaal Triangle.

Louis Boshoff, Vice - Chairperson of the Nedbank Running Club welcomed everyone and summarized the achievements of 2024.

Tracey Olivier was then as the Master of Ceremonies, who once again did an excellent job of it.

Harry Marx then presented the athletes with their certificates, medals and honorary awards. The Chair person, Pierre Pretorius then presented athletes with the trophies in the different disciplines for 2024. Athletes and members were rewarded in the following categories:

We want to invite ALL members, including new members, to come and join us every Tuesday at 17:15 for the Time Trials.

Come and experience the company of fellow members for a 2,4,6 and 8km run, even a 1km run will be accommodated. The course is properly marked to prevent participants from getting lost and it is very safe. Walkers are also more than welcome to come and join. Time Trials are important to measure your progress from week to week and we can see in the results how participants better themselves on a weekly basis.

Club Person of the month

Franna van der Westhuizen was our Club Person for December ’24. He made us proud by obtaining the Silver medal in the B/11 1200m at the Sub-Youth championships which was held in Bloemfontein. Well done young man and we are looking forward to your 2025 season.

Please remember to forward your results to the commission for recognition in 2025. We wish all our Road runners a successful 2025 season and good luck with attempts to qualify for the Two Oceans and Comrades marathon’s.

The year had barely started and Michelle Spies entertained us with her overall ladies victory at the Bert’s Bricks half marathon. Congratulations Michelle and keep this up. Michelle was also selected to participate in the AVT team at the ASA marathon championships on 16 February ’25 in Cape Town. We know you are going to make us all proud of you.
