Nedbank Running Club Vaal Triangle clubhouse at Kollege Park Primary school (Glanville street) Vanderbilpark

Warm greetings to all Vanderbijlpark club members. A big and hearty welcome to all new members and we as management wish you all a winning experience with a winning club in the Vaal Triangle in 2023.

Gerda Pretorius will handle all club related enquiries as well as all running gear. Gerda’s contact number is 072 209 9906. She will be available at the clubhouse on Tuesday’s from 17:00.

Members can register at the clubhouse on Tuesdays from 17:00.

Club Athlete of the month – April ‘23

Anje Holtzhausen was nominated by management as Club Athlete for April ’23 as a result of her Gold Medal in the Hammer Throw competition during the African Championships (CAA) u/18-u/20 which took place from the 29^th of April till the 3^rd of May 2023 in Lusaka, Zambia.

Club Athlete of the month – June ‘23

Tsietsi Mokoena was nominated by management as Club Athlete for June ’23 as result of his Bronze Medal in the ASA Half Marathon Championships which was held in Gqeberha

Time Trials

Starting time for our weekly time trials will be on Tuesday’s at 17:15 from the Clubhouse. This new time will be during the winter months when it become dark earlier during these months and this change is for safety reasons.

Thank you for all participants and to Johan Britz whose athletes participates on a weekly basis. It is great to see our young talent and the improvement on individual times on a weekly basis. All participants were treated with hot chocolate after the cold time trial on Tuesday the 18^th of July ’23 and everyone enjoyed it. Appreciation to the ladies who provided it.

Cross Country

Five leagues are completed now. According to Beaulah Valentin we as Nedbank had good representation at the leagues.

Please remember if you are a fully paid Nedbank member, you can get your sticker for free from Beaulah Valentin. Remember to write your name and license number at the entry table. Nedbank Running Club will pay the entry fees of all leagues and the AVT championships to Athletics Vaal Triangle. All you have to do is to pitch in your lovely Nedbank attire with your 2023 ASA license and to perform as Nedbank athletes normally do.

Our Club will host the last league which will be held on the 5^th of August 2023 at Kollegepark. We will need help from our members to make this a huge success.

Road Running

The remaining ASA Road Championships for 2023

• ASA 10km Championships that will take place on the 4^th of November 2023 in Mbombela.

Sampie Mokgatla finished 3^rd in the Midvaal MADMAC 10km race on Saturday the 15^th of July ’23.

Congratulations Sampie you have made us proud again as usual.

Comrades – 2023

Our participants in the 2023 Comrades Marathon obtained 22 medals consisting of the following:

We need input from interested participants to plan a successful 2024 Comrades marathon. If you have ideas on this, please let us know. For example, to implement some group runs on Saturdays

Leagues will start in October ’23 and we will update you on this.

Masters Athletics 2023

Braam Botes qualified and was chosen to represent SAMA in the Africa Masters Championships in Pretoria. Congratulations Braam and we know you will make us proud.
