Newsletter #04                          NBRC – Vanderbijlpark              April 2020

Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.” A famous saying by Nelson Mandela.

Although we are in a period of “lockdown” and no activity, I’ve decided to send out this newsletter with some positive news from our club and our members. We as management really hope that all our members keep themselves safe and healthy. It is a difficult time for all of us but we must remember that our health is more important at this stage than anything else. We urge you all to adhere to all regulations even if it is tough. This difficult time will pass eventually and we will be able to resume our normal living.

FUN RUN SERIES 1 – 2020

We were fortunate to conclude our first series for 2020 on the 13th of March 2020 before the Corona virus disrupted all sport events. We had a very successful series and all participants enjoyed it very much. There were five events, started on the 17th of January 2020 attracting 2,996 entrants in total. We want to thank everyone who offered help during the series and a special thank to the following people helping us making it such an success:

  • John Dory’s with manning the water point and table at the finish
  • Pieter Olen as announcer
  • The marshals on the route
  • All members who planned the series, the set up of all the events, helping with the entries and the finish and the cleaning afterwards
  • Johann Valentin for leading all events in the series with his motorcycle
  • The car guards

Here are some of the pictures of the events to reflect back on this very successful series
