The Athletics South Africa (ASA) Marathon Championship was held in conjunction with the
Balwin Sport Peninsula Marathon for the first time in the event’s 57-year history. This
prestigious race, known for its scenic but challenging point-to-point route, saw nearly 6,000
runners toe the line in Green Point, Cape Town. The flat course, coupled with extremely windy
conditions, took athletes across the Cape Peninsula, concluding 42.2 km later at the Simon’s
Town Naval Base Sports Ground.
