Nedbank Soweto hosted its first prize giving this past Saturday in Kagiso Sports Complex. The aim was to award the great performances of 2014 and also to inspire the athletes to work hard in 2015.

 

For some of these athletes, it was their first time to receive prizes as such: a trophy, a certificate, shoes, 32Gi and Future Life from our sponsors. For us it was a big success to stage this well organised event.

 

A big thank you to the goodies bags and spot prizes. Phindile did such a marvelous job in designing the certificates and decorating the venue.

 

Our athletes of the year

:

Track and Field: Lizerrie Ferreira

She won SA Champs 1500m ASA and schools and she received honours certificate for Representing SA in Zimbabwe.

 

Cross Country Athlete of the year: Simon Mpholo

He won 4 leagues and finished top 3 in the others. He went to finish 2nd in SA Champs in George.

 

Road Runner of the year: Xolisa Tyali

10th at 2 Oceans 21km, wins Mayors Marathon in Eastern Cape and 4th also only South African in top 10 Gauteng Marathon.
