Seven out of twelve possible category winners!!
That is exactly the distinction members of the Nedbank Bloemfontein Achilles Athletics Club scored at their rival, Bloemfontein Striders “Sweet-en-Eet” 10 km Road Race on Saturday, 07 September 2013.
With no reference to whom the best performance among the Nedbank Bloemfontein Achilles athletes belonged to, let us start per age group.
Barry Williams won the men 40 – 49 race in 40:49 and his fellow Nedbank Bloemfontein Achilles team mate, Basil Kinghorn was victorious in the men 50 – 59 year section in 46:50.
The 63 year old Paulus Mpho ran a sound race to win the 60 years plus category.
Among the ladies, Ilse Heymans (56:54) scored a victory in the 40 – 49 year race and Charmaine van der Walt took honours in the 50 – 59 years event in a respectable 50:58.
The never ending Louise Combrinck took home gold in the ladies 60 years plus age group in 1:04:49.

The blind star of Nedbank Bloemfontein Achilles, Louzanne Coetzee once again ran a personal best time over 10 km when she and her guide, Rouxné Vermaak (also Nedbank Bloemfontein Achilles) crossed the line in sub 50 minutes (49:38).
