Om Die Dam Complies with Coronavirus Containment Considerations
Although the containment of Coronavirus patients in South Africa remains effective, the organisers of the 30th Om Die Dam are taking a responsible approach towards Saturday’s 50km and 21km event to be held at Hartebeespoort Holiday Resort in North West North.
The Om Die Dam Team is closely monitoring the situation and following all guidelines set by the Minister of Health as well as the World Health Organisation.
We will be equipping the race venue, and registration area with hand sanitiser, as well as at water points. All helpers will be given gloves. Wherever possible, we will offer and follow guidelines to manage the continued containment of this virus.
These recommendations are primarily focused on good hygiene practice, which is the biggest and simplest step everyone can follow in the challenge to minimise any spread of the virus
"There has been no requirement to discuss the cancellation of the event. We continue to stay in close communication with officials in the healthcare ministry and the medical industry. We will upgrade our current measures in line with any directives from these advisers," says Race Director Jaco Venter, adding, "We do, however, strongly urge any runners who are experiencing any flu-like symptoms to rather not attend the event, as this may not only expose and impact on fellow runners but also undermine the currently effective measures being taken in the Province and Country as a whole."
