Landloop

Jason Boon

Jason is ‘n leerling van Vereeniging Gimnasium en ‘n graad 8 leerder. Hy het die afgelpoe twee jaar Gauteng skole gekry vir landloop maar ongelukkig uitgeval op SA’s.

Beulauh sien Jason se talent en potensiaal raak en begin hom afrig. In 2017 wen Jason Gauteng skole byeenkoms asook Vaaldriehoek o/14. Jason behaal 2de plekke by SA skole byeeenkoms asook klub landloop SA’s.

Mieke Smit

Ek is Mieke Smit van laerskool Risiville. Ek hardloop omdat ek dit geniet. Ek het 2de plek by SA skole atletiek behaal asook in die klub landloop SA’s in Potchefstroom. Voordat ek hardloop hou ek daarvan om vir myself te sê dat ek tot alles in staat is deur Jesus wat vir my krag gee – Fillipense 4:13.

Jason en Mieke  is beslis twee jong opkomende sterre.

Shot Put and Discus.

Jonathan competed at the IAAF World U18 Championships and obtained a bronze medal in the Shot Put and a 10^th place in Discus.

Jonathan started his “Athletics Career”, at the age of 10 years, in 2010 with Shot Put and Discus. From an early age he had set very high standards for himself. He set his sights on winning a medal at the World U18 Championships.

The road to obtaining this, has been a hard and long process. Jonathan has had wonderful support on this journey, with two coaches: one for Shot Put and one for Discus, namely Cois de Witt and Dries van Heerden, respectively; and of course his parents who have played a huge part in his success.

Jonathan went into the championships as the South African National Champion and with the fourth best distance in the world, but he was determined to obtain a medal. He improved on his personal best by 23cm to snatch the bronze medal.

Well done, Jonathan, we are very proud of you and your achievement. We look forward to seeing you grow and achieve more in your disciplines.
