The Nedbank Running Club in George (SWD) is growing by the day and they had a total of 583 club members at the end of 2016. This increase of membership of over 30% growth is a clear indication of the passionate leadership of the club committee under the Chairmanship of Daniel Raubenheimer. The Nedbank Running club is the biggest club in the South Western District.

One of the draw cards of the club for is the well organised time trial every week on Tuesdays afternoons at the Outeniqua Bowling Club, Heather Park on 18h00. There are 2 distances to choose from to cater for every fitness level of athlete namely a 3km and 5km, where fast times can be recorded on this flat route.
The usual attendance figures on Tuesdays range between 60 to 90 athletes and a record field of 132 runners. This is one of a few clubs where your timing at the time trial is done with an Ipico chip timing system and they have used this also in all the races the last 6 years.
The club also hosted long training runs where the main focus is for important races like the Two Oceans and Comrades Marathons. Club runs are also organized on weekends when there are no races in the SWD Province.
The club Gazebo is present at all the major races in the SWD Province where club members are treated with refreshments after the races.
The Nedbank Running Club in George has a well structured development program in place. The club’s Development program includes athletes at schools from Waboomskraal, Zeekoei and Franken Primary Schools.
As part of the Development program they assist talented runners with transport and entry fees.
The development kids are also assisted with transport and entry fees to be able to run the club’s fun runs at their races.
The top podium athletes are supported with running gear, track suits, race entry fees, and incentives.
The also invested in an Ipico chip timing system and have used in all the races and for the last 6 years on the time trial.
The Nedbank Running Club in George cater for all kind of runners, social as well as development and top runners.
Any one is welcome to visit the Nedbank Running Club in George, even if you are not a member of the Nedbank Running Club.
