Mtshali was gunned down by unknown people and no arrests have been made so far. Joining the Nedbank running club 3 years ago, Mtshali loved the Comrades Marathon and in last years event obtained his green number for successfully finishing his 10th Comrades when he crossed the line in 08:01:41 to earn his 8th Bill Rowan medal for finishing under 9 hours. 

His best Comrades result came from the 2014 down run which he finished in a time of 07:37:31. Mtshali will be laid to rest today at his home in KwaNdengezi. Anyone wishing to contribute towards the family and expenses can contact Nedbank running club member Sifundo Dlamini on 084 445 3127.
