Tyali makes welcome return to winning
May 14, 2019
The 2nd running of the Central Gauteng cross country league went underway this past weekend and saw a welcome return to the top of the podium for Soweto’s Xolisa Tyali who took victory in the men’s race, just 1 second in front of team mate Namakhoe Nkhasi.
“I’m feeling good again and there are no injuries,” said Tyali after crossing the line. “This year one of my main focus is the Cape Town Marathon where I aim to run a qualifier for the Olympics.”

In Outenqiua, Comrades Marathon hopeful John April recorded victory in the Outenqiua Half Marathon in 69:57, off the back of a block of high mileage where he aims to get a gold in this year’s race.

In Gaborone, Botswana, David Manja led a trio of Nedbank green dream team runners over the line when he took victory in the Gaborone Half Marathon in a fast 1:04:27. He was followed by team mates Misheck Sithole from Nedbank running club Zimbabwe and Phillimon Mathiba who both finished in 1:04:38 and 1:04:49. In the accompanying Marathon, Ramolefi Motsiela from Nedbank running club Lesotho won in a quick 2:16:44
