Carla Molinaro diagnosed with stress fracture

The Nedbank running club was dealt with a blow when green dream team athlete Carla Molinaro this week was diagnosed with a stress fracture.

After running the Buff’s marathon 2 weeks ago, Molinaro had to take a few days off as there was some tenderness in her right leg and when trying to return to training, the pain worsened. “A scan confirmed that there is a cheeky little stress fracture in my fibula,” a still upbeat Molinaro said. “Injuries really get to you when you’re at your peak and ready to tear up the roads so for the next few weeks I’m now going to work on my weaknesses and the cause of the injury so that I don’t lose too much fitness ahead of Comrades.

Running for charity last year, Molinaro is no stranger to injury, after running 900km in 20 days between Cape Town and Durban, Molinaro found herself in the top 10 earning her first Comrades gold medal even whilst injured. “I got this gold medal with a torn quad, shin splints and who knows what else and I managed to pull it out the bag and you can better believe it that I will do the same this year!”

The Nedbank running wishes Carla a speedy recovery and are confident that she will bounce back from this stronger than ever before.
