Kurgat impresses with winning time in Rustenburg

Moses Kurgat proved to be one of the Nedbank Running Club’s star performers over the weekend winning the Bojanala Platinum Municipality 21km in Rustenburg in a time of 1:06:00.
Apart from Kurgat’s victory the “Green Team” also won races in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Durban.

There is no prize for guessing where the Nedbank Running Club athletes totally dominated. It was in George during the Gasmart 10km Race. At the finish line it was case of “all you see is green”. The men as well as the women made a clean sweep in the elite races. In the men’s race four of the top ten finishers were from the club and in the women’s race it was a case of six out ten.

Lloyd Bosman won the men’s race in 32:47 with Donovan Jantjies second in 33:44 and Elfonzo Pieterse third 35:05.

The women’s race proved to be a classic scenario of the youth not being able to beat experience. The “Duracell-lady” of road racing, Annatjie Botes, showed her younger rivals a clean pair of heels. The 59-year old’s winning time was 43:23. Candice van Beulen was the second to cross the finish line running a time of 44:12 with Charmaine Lamprecht third in 44:41.

**Mziwenkosi Maja won the Woodview AC Half-marathon in Durban in a time of 1:11:06.

** Ntombesintu Mfunzi was victorious at the Panamor 21km in Port Elizabeth winning in 1:19:51.

** Andronica Mokgotla finished second in the Zio Food 21km in Sasolburg. Her time was 1:32:00.

Lucas Jani raced to a second place finish in the men’s 10km clocking 31:31.

**Another good result for the Nedbank Running Club was Tabitha Tsatsa winning the Tuks Love Running women’s 21km in 1:28:46.

Vincent Kipchirchir hang on to finish second in the men’s race. His was timed at 1:11:20.
